What do Tom Brady and Snow White Have in Common?

Sports are a huge part of the American culture. Football, Baseball, Hockey, Basketball – whatever the game, people love it. We all know that. But living in New England…well, I think it’s safe to say that we take the love of the game far more serious than the rest.

Now, what I’m about to say will most definitely hail some haters…but I’m going to say it anyway. I am NOT a fan of the New England Patriots. Yup, I said it. Sorry fellow New Englanders — being born and raised in Upstate New York, I have to stay true to my roots and support the Buffalo Bills.  More than half of the haters just took a sigh of relief after I said that (Oh, it’s just the Bills…pshh). Yeah…I know what you’re thinking. No competition, huh? You just wait! Okay — sorry, I’m digressing.

My point here is, whether you like the Patriots or not, one thing is for certain: America loves Sports.  And so do I (see above) but what you don’t know is that I also love something else. Cartoons! Disney in particular. I would pick to watch a Disney movie (even though I’ve watched them all about a dozen times) over any other kind of movie. So when I saw a recent article on SportsPickle.com that compared sports to fairytales…it was a must read. The article claims that our beloved childhood fairy tales are not actually about life lessons or cutesy characters bouncing around — but in fact they are solely based on one thing: sports. At first I thought — wait, what? But after reading it…it all started to make sense. Here are a few that really got me:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

A beautiful princess (Tom Brady) lives with her evil mother (Bill Belichick). Snow White hangs out with a bunch of tiny white people (his wide receivers).

The Frog Prince

Ugly, disgusting, slimy athletes get hot women, too.

Cinderella

Even those with great natural abilities need a little magic to stand out and really achieve their potential. Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother represents a steroids dealer. The glass slipper is a multi-million dollar Nike shoe contract.
