What happens when A-list (B-list?) celebs get behind the camera for low-budget music videos can be both magical and disastrous. It’s what took “Call me Maybe” from a potential pop flop to a teen anthem overnight, but it’s also what keeps YouTube numbers high decades after The Hoff’s “Hooked on a Feeling” video release (that will never get old).
For entertainment value alone, I dig both sides of the spectrum.
So when news of a new flick by the likes of Jamie Foxx, Miley Cyrus, Channing Tatum, Gabourey Sidibe and Olivia Munn came about, I was pumped to see which way the Jimmy Kimmel-produced vid would fall.
Consensus? “(I Wanna) Channing All Over Your Tatum” is destined to be the next big YouTube craze in all its suggestive, disgusting glory. Highlights of the rap parody include: a pool noodle rescue by Channing himself, some not-so-pretty leaf-blowing to Olivia Munn’s face (interpret as you wish…), Jamie Foxx’s face on a talking leg tattoo and plenty of moves undoubtedly learned from Channing’s past in the Chippendale circuit.
So what does it all mean? Jimmy Kimmel’s not so sure, but according to the lyrics, “Going Channing on the Tatum makes the babies be born.” Ah hah. Lesson learned.
