It was just last September when Target sent the retail world aflutter with the launch of its Missoni for Target collection, causing mass chaos at the stores and crashing the website repeatedly within the first 24 hours. Shoppers scurried to get their hands on whatever goods were available and more than 30,000 of the coveted items from the collection ended up on Ebay for two to three times the price.
(I may or may not have been one of those spastic shoppers frantically searching for any remaining items like a Titanic passenger looking for the last remaining lifeboat.)
Hoping to once again send fashionistas into a frenzy, Target has planned a collaboration with Neiman Marcus for this season’s holiday collection, featuring 24 of the top designer names in the biz. According to the company, the collection will range in price from $7.99 to $499.99, with the majority of items under $60.00, and features designers who are members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

The top names include: Alice + Olivia, Brian Atwood, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Judith Leiber, Marchesa, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Rodarte, Tory Burch and Tracy Reese.
I can already hear myself saying, “Sir, can you please put my Marchesa in a different bag than the toilet cleaner? Thanks.”
If we’ve learned anything from the Missoni for Target product launch, the early bird gets the best purses, shoes and duvet covers, so mark your calendar now. (And don’t count on the website to hold up in the rush!)
I know exactly where I’ll be the morning of December 1 – and I’m starting my agility drills now.
