I’m as guilty as the next person of watching all things reality, including six hours of Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Humphries. Whether it’s Khloe & Lamar, Keepin’ Up with the Kardashians or Kourtney and Kim Take New York, there’s hardly an iteration of the Kardashians that I don’t watch. I know—it’s an illness. That being said, the seas are starting to turn for me, and dare I say, I’m experiencing a bit of a backlash.
First, there was the 72-day marriage. As a reality TV conspiracy theorist, I know that shit was orchestrated down to the very minute the divorce was announced (same week as Kris Jenner was out promoting her book). That’s all fine and part of the reality TV game. What started to irk me was the growing anti-Kris Humphries epidemic spreading across the celebrity weeklies and edited carefully in recent episodes of Kourtney and Kim Take New York. From slamming him for being a bad husband to calling him a fame whore, the tides were unleashed on that poor little boy from Minnesota. Again, I don’t feel bad for him—he asked for it by marrying into the Klan. What does bother me, though, is that the divorce resulted in a Team Kim vs. Team Kris battle—with most people talking Kim’s side. Unbelievable! This is the same girl we vilified for being famous for no reason other than a sex tape and now we’ve got her back because her husband said she had no talent and her “fame” wouldn’t last? When will the insanity end?!
Not soon enough, apparently. The last straw came when I stumbled across this paparazzi photo of Kendall Jenner (Kim’s younger half-sister and star of Keepin’ Up with the Kardashians) with a caption calling the 16-year old reality star a “jewelry designer.” What’s next, Mason Dash Disick as an entrepreneur?
