Selling Their Soles to Fashion Corporate America

Lately, the fashion world has been a-buzz with news of couture’s most sought-after designers coming to a WalMart/Kohl’s/Sears near you.

I don’t know who started this…I think it was Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen…but it has gone too far. Between the Kardashian Kollection, Missoni for Target (that’s right, it comes up with an error page because everyone bought the damn stuff and sold it on eBay like it was the real thing) and Vera Wang for David’s Bridal, I have had enough.

Truthfully, the Kardashian Kollection doesn’t surprise me, they’ll do anything to make a dollar (cue list of Kim Kardashian’s sketchiest endorsements), but Versace, Missoni and Vera Wang?? It just seems wrong.

These haute-couturiers have sold their soul down the river, allowing average citizens to wear their labels. I don’t care how sincere Vera is when she says “Every bride deserves to have a great design;” it doesn’t mean it should be your design! Not to mention, H&M makes crappy quality clothing to begin with; why, Donatella, do you want to be associated with that!?

Wearing high-end designers is something that should be an aspiration, an accomplishment, a reward! No one says it better than Kate Hudson in Bride Wars, “You don’t alter Vera Wang to fit you; you alter yourself to fit Vera!”

So Vera, Versace, Missoni, and now apparently Tom Ford, stop altering (read compromising) yourselves to fit middle-America; they can’t handle what you have to offer!
