Catch-22 for Sofia’s Boobs

michelleFINALLY – Sofia Vergara and I have something in common. The Modern Family star recently told Cosmopolitan there are certain clothes she can’t wear because of her 32F chest. “I can’t wear something backless, because what holds them up? Then the magazines would be saying, ‘What was she thinking with those sagging t*ts?’”

As a fellow member of Camp Busty, I’m extremely envious of gals who can show off their shoulders and backs in strapless or scoop tops.  Not just because of how they look, but because (to me) it seems like they’ve gobbled up the dress market! Finding a non-strapless wedding gown was an ordeal.  And the bridesmaid’s dress I wore last summer, with its plunging back, lead to a crushing collection of straps, snaps and point underwire to avoid the dreaded sags.

So don’t “woe is me” Sofia for her complaint. As someone whose job it is to walk red carpets night after night with fresh new looks, she’s definitely at a disadvantage over the clothes-hanger body types of Gwyneth Paltrow or Nicole Kidman. Fashion reviewers might complain that she always wears the same cuts.  But has that diminished her beauty one bit?  No way!

Check out some shots of Sofia Vergara’s smokin’ signature red carpet look:

Mrs. Carter vs. Mrs. Brady

First Bey, and now Gisele?! H&M is stepping it up with celeb spokesmodels this year!

When Beyonce’s partnership for H&M’s summer collection was announced in March, I was super psyched. First of all, it’s hard to imagine Queen B in anything short of Givenchy, but she was definitely the perfect choice to rock the coveted brand’s bikini line. A $4.95 fringe triangle top will never, ever, look that good. Especially on a post-baby body.

The newly launched commercial for the “Beyonce as Mrs. Carter in H&M” campaign is reminiscent of her hair flipping, beach crawling “Survivor” days, which were, might I add, 11 years ago. Girl doesn’t age, I swear.

Anyway, it was just announced that Gisele will be the face of the Swedish line’s autumn/winter 2013-2014 campaign. Having previously worked with H&M in 2011, you’d think the world’s highest paid model and Tom Brady’s arm candy would have it easy, but to follow Mrs. Carter is no cake walk. Sure, the very few photos that have been teased via social media look pretty good (except for maybe the newsboy hat?), but it’s too early to tell.

So, will Gisele outshine Beyonce or does Bey rule all?

A Place to Shop for Fashionable Felines

As I was researching bloggers for the beauty team, I came across Rue Le Chat and was immediately faced by a cat wearing a James Bond inspired untied bow tie. Confused yet intrigued, I scrolled down to read the rest of the post to learn about CATetelier, a fashion boutique selling handmade clothes for pet cats. Turns out, there’s a whole world of kitty apparel I had never even imagined.

On the Etsy site, cat lovers can purchase a variety of chic cat accessories, including colorfully patterned bow ties, knotted neck ties, berets and newsboy caps. Are these kitties trying to compete with Menswear Dog? I think so. In my opinion Menswear Dog is winning (cats make my eyes itch, so I’m a little biased), but I’m sure fashionable felines everywhere are excited about this line of trendy pieces…or their owners are, at least.

If you’re dying to dress your cat up as a cast member of Newsies or James Bond for a night out of the litter box, CATetelier is the place to shop. Maybe even Grumpy Cat would sneak a grin if he was decked out in one of these looks!?

All Mint Everything

After a recent splurge on my go-to online shopping site, www.tobi.com, it’s hard to ignore the spring trend of 2013. Ladies, bust out your mint green! Luckily for us, mint green is one of those colors that seems to flatter everyone so it looks like we’re all in for a confidence booster in the coming months. But keep in mind that, when it comes to fashion, excessive color is never a good thing. Here are some tips on how to incorporate JUST ENOUGH mint green into your spring wardrobe to look on trend:

1. Pair mint jeans with a basic top for a clean, but chic look

2. Top off any outfit with a colored statement necklace for extra pizazz

3. Spice up your favorite LBD with a colored wedge or pump

Shoe Obsession at the FIT

carlaI’m a shopaholic. I’m sure some of you can sympathize with me when I say, “shoes are a necessity.” It is true! You NEED shoes – you don’t NEED other things. Shoes are that one thing that immediately overrides my shopper’s guilt as the devil on my shoulder quickly convinces me that they are worth more than my first born child. As the proud owner of well over 75 pairs, I should probably stop but – to me – shoes are what complete an outfit. Although I am usually spotted in a pair of riding boots or my Sperry top-siders, my closet is a mecca of shoe porn, from spiked red sling backs to blue suede pumps and even a few pairs of sequined Toms. Excuse me as I give myself props for diversity!

To be honest, I am a pretty boring dresser; when I add a unique pair of shoes to my wardrobe I feel a little bit less lame (perhaps this shoe obsession is a coping mechanism?). Luckily I am not the only one out there looking for quirky shoes to spice up their closet because the Fashion Institute of Technology’s new “Shoe Obsession” exhibit is all the rage in NYC (BRB — booking my Amtrak ticket — yikes, it closes this coming Saturday!).

The collection definitely screams, “A Night in NYC with Lady Gaga” but when you are wearing shoes this hot there is no such thing as a BAD ROMANCE…except maybe the one with your bank….

Here are a few of my favorites! (somebody hide my credit card before it is too late!)
